New furnace: LORA
This year the chair of High Temperature Materials purchased a new high temperature furnace working with inert atmopheres which went on-line recenty. With the LORA type furnace made by HTM Reetz GmbH one is able to anneal refractory metal alloys in an argon atmosphere at temperature up to 1600 °C. Therefore, the microstructure, the phase stability and mechnical properties of all materials in the focus of our group (Mo-Si-B, V-Si-B, biocompaatible high entropy alloys of refractory metals, mechanically alloyed and/or pressurized powders) can be investigated under conditions near the equilibrium. Hence, the furnace is a very important part of equipment for our research and teaching.
