In this class the basic knowledge of the production and application of semi-fnished products and pre-fabricated parts is taught. Starting with the synthesis of metallic powders via a variety of processing routes, the students get to know learn about different methods to analyze and to characterize a powder, as this is important to get an understanding of the mechanisms and interactions during the compacting process. Other topics include 3D printing and near net shape technology. In exercises students get a deeper insight of the powder metallurgy while during hand-on sessions in our laboratories the students are encouraged to try the different methods to analyze a powder by themselves. |
